The Benenden Village Trust owns and maintains a major group of assets given to the Parish a century ago for the benefit and recreation of all.

The Trust is responsible for:

  • promoting facilities for recreation and leisure in Benenden and Iden Green
  • the bequests of Lord Rothermere in memory of his sons, Harold Vyvyan Harmsworth and Vere Sidney Harmsworth - the recreation fields in Benenden and Iden Green, and St George's Hall.
  • the Trust is managed by Trustees elected by Members
  • Membership is open to all aged over 18 living in the Parish and to representatives of organisations and businesses within the Parish.

The Trust invites all residents of Benenden Parish over 18 to sign up as MEMBERS.

From July 2022 the Trustee Board consists of Kent Barker, Simon Brown, Athena Cripps, Tom Dawlings, Martin Dickson, Julie Lewis, Sally Ann Marks and Richard Stubbings.

Benenden Village Trust is looking to appoint a friendly and reliable person as Village Hall Caretaker to contribute to the smooth running of the Village Hall.

The successful applicant will be self-motivated, dependable and trustworthy with good communication skills.

Flexibility is required to meet variable needs, consistent with the day-to-day use of the Hall, some relatively short visits, including weekends and evenings as necessary.

Working with the Village Hall Manager and the Village Hall Cleaner responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ensuring that the Village Hall is presented clean and fully operational; liaising with hirers; opening and closing the Hall for non-regular hirers; monitoring the security of the building.
